CREDIT CARD BALANCE TRANSFER OFFERS A REPAYMENT FREE PERIOD

If you’ve already been looking for the best credit card deals in a bid to find your next credit card then you may have come across several terms that you do not understand. A credit card balance transfer is one such term that you will have probably seen quite often but if you don’t fully understand what it is you won’t be aware of the benefits it has to offer.

A balance transfer is the transfer of your total credit balance from one credit card to another. In actual fact, it is possible to transfer the balance of small loans and even overdrafts to your credit card. By looking for a 0 APR credit card you will not have to pay any interest on the balance transfer for
a fixed period.

A credit card company will decide on the length of the interest free period and this can range from 3 months to 12 months, possibly even longer with some particularly cheap credit cards. Once the interest free period lapses, though, you will have to pay the agreed rate of interest on the balance. However, this will not only buy you some time to repay the balance
for free but you can also swap credit cards again once this period expires.

By using a 0% APR balance transfer you can essentially avoid having to make a credit card payment for months or even years, however, balance transfers are best used to enable you to repay the balance of your card without
having to repay any interest. If you make any further purchases or cash withdrawals you will still be charged for these in the normal manner and if possible you should avoid accumulating more credit card debt than you already have.
